How We...Wednesdays!

Eeekk!! This is my first blog post in, well years. I used to love blogging, but then I had an actual writing job that in the end was more demanding and writing in any other form was the last thing I really wanted to do. But, I've been out of that job for two years and my soul needs to write again.

I love this How We Wednesday Goals/Resolutions  because starting a New Year with fresh perspective, clarity and brand new beginnings and a year full of possibilities is one of my favorite things.

I thought this was perfect way to reignite my bog, because my goal this year is to blog more...once a week would be more than what I've done in recent years but I really want to blog at least three days a week if not every day, but baby steps.

Love- So far, 2018 has been crazy because I got engaged after Christmas!! This can be a post all it's own, but I just turned 37 and I'm finally getting married. I was starting to think the single life was going to be it for me, as were some family and friends, but it happened. The wedding planning has already begun, but in between it all, my goal is to learn how to love my man better.

Read more - I also used to read. A lot. Once I bought my house four years ago, it kind of took a back burner with balancing work and all the home stuff that has to be done. When the day is over, I find myself just kind of sitting on the couch at 8 p.m. with Netflix and my cell phone, scrolling through Social Media. I've been realizing lately, this is not the way I want to spend my free time, which leads me to my next goal.

Less time on Social Media - Anyone else with me on this?? Goodness, I can scroll through Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest and then realize I've wasted an hour. Or two. My goal is to turn it all off by 9 p.m. and pick up a book.

Be more organized - Ughhh...I know my life would be a lot less stressful if I kept up on stuff around my house. I have no problem with a big cleaning day on Saturday, but sometimes plans happen and stuff doesn't get done like I want it to and then my whole week just seems off. My goal is to do at least one or two things each evening like dust, or clean the bathrooms, dump the trash. The kind of stuff that doesn't take too long if it's maintained.

Let’s Look -organizing for the new year

Ohh this is a great topic for the first of the year. I definitely see January as that fresh start I look forward to, and to kick it all off I want everything neat and organized.  The first thing I do is take down and pack away all the Christmas decorations. I love decorating for Christmas, and enjoying it through the holiday season, so this part is always a little sad. I loved nothing more than spending the evenings and weekends in my house with my little family, and probably could’ve used a few more weeks of holiday cheer.  Once Christmas is put away, I tackle a few projects like organizing the bookshelves, cleaning the fridge, quick tasks, but can make a big difference.  In years past, I tried to do excessive cleaning and organizing, like washing baseboards, organizing cupboards, tackling the linen closet, things that that really became unrealistic in the amount of time I have off for the holidays, plus juggling a toddler in the mix.  Several years ago it daw...

How I take care of myself

Happy Valentine's Day! Some people I know dread this day, but I love it and one of the main reasons has nothing to do with love. January is such a dull month, especially since it is right after the sparkle of the holidays so it is nice to have something to decorate for and celebrate. :) So, wishing you all a happy day whether its spent with your sweetie, children, or a Galentines Day out, believe me, I've had many of those days and they are some favorite memories. Moving on to How We Wednesdays and today's topic of How do I take care of myself.  This is a great topic and I'm looking forward to reading everyone else's tips. For me, how I take care of myself is focusing on eating well and exercising at least five days a week because my health has dictated changes in my life. Rewind to last year when I went in for my annual check up and the nurse practitioner said my sugar levels were on the "jumping point of being high." :( Not even pre-diabetic but en...

My son's birth story

As we approach my son’s third birthday, I thought I’d share his birth story. Yes, it’s cliche, but the day he was born, is one I will never forget, and I think so fondly of it, despite a few unexpected turns.  I had a very uneventful and healthy pregnancy...zero morning sickness, good energy levels. Except for the fact that I had a protruding stomach, felt a little off balance, had difficulty breathing and  my ears plugged every day during the last trimester, I felt great. I do credit a lot of that due to the fact I was able to workout the whole time.  My due date was June 5, and I started maternity leave one week prior.  I wanted as much vacation and sick leave in the books, but taking just one week was stressful because I felt like I had a lot to do still - finalize the nursery, prepare more freezer meals, clean everything again, and I even made some of those padsicles for post partum healing. My first weekend off and up to my due date, I kept saying, “the baby doe...
